What are drink cubes?
A drink cube is a pressed effervescent cube that you drop into a bottle or a glass of water. It dissolves with fizz and flavours the water. The format is sold as drink cubes and as water enhancer cubes, and it is made like an effervescent tablet, from an acid and a bicarbonate pressed together.
FIZZPHARMA presses the cube at the plant and seals it into its own blister. What the cube contains, and how much water it is made for, is fixed with the formula in the brief.
How do drink cubes work?
The acid and the bicarbonate in the cube stay inactive while it is dry and react the moment it meets water. One cube goes into the water, fizzes and dissolves, and the water takes the flavour of the cube.
Each FIZZPHARMA cube is sealed alone under its own foil lid, which carries your brand.
Why is each drink cube sealed in its own blister?
Because the cube is sold and used one at a time. Every cube sits in its own pocket under a foil lid, stays sealed until the customer opens it, and the foil lid is a surface for your brand.
Which manufacturer can make drink cubes, each in its own blister, under my brand?
FIZZPHARMA can, in the European Union. It develops your flavour or uses a ready-made one, presses the cube, seals each cube in its own blister, packs the blisters in a box printed to your artwork, and ships the batch with a CoA and a specification.
The order runs in a fixed sequence: your enquiry, a sample, your approval of the sample, your approval of the label artwork, production, printing and packing, delivery. Nothing is produced before you have approved both the sample and the label. The same sequence for every format is on how a private label order works.
What flavours can drink cubes have?
Ready-made flavours cover any berry or fruit. FIZZPHARMA can also develop a flavour of your own, or a drink to your own formula, and every flavour is a product of its own for the minimum.
Send the flavour you have in mind and the country of sale with the enquiry. A change of flavour or formula after you have approved the sample means a new sample, so settle the flavour before the artwork is final.
What is the minimum order for drink cubes?
The minimum is set for each product and counted in cubes and boxes. Three flavours are three products, each with a minimum of its own, and a repeat order carries the same minimum as the first. FIZZPHARMA gives the figures for your flavour in its reply within 24 hours, Monday to Friday.
The unit differs by format: tubes for effervescent tablets, kilograms for sachets and powders. All of them are compared on minimum order and lead time.
How long does it take to make drink cubes?
The production time for drink cubes is given in our reply to your enquiry. Transport and customs come on top of it.
Before production come the sample and your two approvals, first the sample and then the label artwork. To keep the calendar short, send the flavour, the country of sale and the label wishes with the first message.
What goes on the blister foil and on the box?
Your brand goes on the foil lid of each blister and on the box. FIZZPHARMA designs the artwork or checks the one you bring, prints at the plant, and prints only the version you have approved. Your importer confirms the label rules of the country of sale, and the artwork follows them.
A blister foil is a small surface, so the mandatory text has to be planned first and the brand laid out around it. The print-size rules are set out in drink cubes versus bottled drinks: weight, shipping and storage.
Is a drink cube a food supplement or an ordinary food in the EU?
It depends on what is in the cube. A cube that only flavours water usually follows the rules for ordinary food. A cube that carries vitamins or minerals in a dose is usually a food supplement and follows the supplement rules. Settle the category from the specification before the label is designed, and let your importer confirm it for the country of sale.
The rules are set out in effervescent drinks and cubes in the EU: food or food supplement. Wording about benefits for health needs an authorisation under Regulation (EC) 1924/2006, so the pack describes the cube by its composition.
Drink cube or effervescent tablet in a tube?
Both are effervescent and both are pressed at the plant; the difference is the pack and the unit of the minimum. A tablet goes 20 to a tube, 4 g each, with a desiccant cap, and is counted in tubes. A cube is sealed alone in its blister and counted in cubes and boxes for each product.
Choose the tube for a serving taken from a shared pack and the blister for a serving that is sold, carried and opened one at a time. The tube is described on effervescent tablets in tubes, and the powder alternative on powder sachets.

Yes. FIZZPHARMA prints your brand on the foil lid of each blister and on the box, to your design. It lays out the artwork or checks yours, and prints only the version you have approved.
What shelf life do drink cubes have?

Is a drink cube a food supplement?

Can drink cubes be halal certified?

Which documents come with drink cubes for export?
A CoA and a specification come with each batch, after laboratory control. For export FIZZPHARMA also arranges a Certificate of Free Sale and a Certificate of Manufacture, with an apostille and consular legalisation where the country of sale asks for them. Your importer files the registration with these documents.
