How are effervescent tablets made?
In five stages: enquiry, sample, approvals, pressing and packing in a tube printed for your brand, then delivery. The tablet is built on an acid and a bicarbonate that react when it meets water, which is why the pack matters as much as the formula.
- Enquiry. Send the formula (ready-made or your own), the flavour, the quantity and the country of sale.
- Sample. For a ready-made formula you receive a sample of the existing product; for your own, a sample is developed to your brief.
- Approvals. You approve the sample, then the label artwork. A change to the formula after approval means a new sample.
- Production. The tablets are pressed at the plant, packed 20 to a tube with the desiccant cap, and the tube is printed with your brand.
- Delivery. A CoA and a specification come with the batch; the goods ship EXW, FCA or DAP.
The same order of work, for every format, is on how a private label order works.
What is the minimum order for effervescent tablets?
It is low and counted in tubes, so a first launch can start small. FIZZPHARMA gives the exact figure for your formula in its reply within 24 hours, Monday to Friday, and a repeat order carries the same minimum as the first.
Other formats count in their own units: sachets and powders from 300 kg of finished blend, drink cubes for each product in cubes and boxes. All of them are on minimum order and lead time.
How long does it take to make effervescent tablets?
From 4 weeks, on a ready-made formula or your own; transport and customs come on top.
Production starts after you approve the sample and the label, so the quickest route is to send the country of sale and the label wishes with the first message. See minimum order and lead time.
Why are effervescent tablets packed in tubes with a desiccant cap?
Because the formula reacts with moisture, including water from the air, and a bottle or a pouch does not keep it out. The pack is a plastic tube with a desiccant cap that absorbs moisture.
The tube is also the surface for your brand, printed by the plant. More on the pack, the cap and the print: effervescent tube packaging.
Which ready-made effervescent tablets can I launch with?
The plant's list of ready-made effervescent formulas covers categories such as vitamin C, calcium, magnesium, multivitamins, collagen and electrolytes. Among them:
- Vitamin C 1000 mg
- Vitamin C + Zinc
- Multivitamins
- Magnesium + vitamin B6
- Calcium + Vitamin D3
These are the formula names from the list. A ready-made formula is available to other brands as well. For the electrolyte formulas see electrolyte effervescent tablets.
Do I need my own formula for private label effervescent tablets?
No. A ready-made formula is the shorter route, since it has no development stage before production. If you want your own, FIZZPHARMA develops a sample from your brief, you approve the sample and the label, and production follows from 4 weeks. A formula developed to your brief is made for your brand; the terms are set in our reply.
Send the dose you have in mind, the flavour and the country of sale with the brief. Your importer confirms the label rules of the country of sale, and you approve the label artwork before printing.
Is an effervescent tablet a food supplement or a drink in the EU?
The category follows the composition. A foodstuff meant to supplement the normal diet that is a concentrated source of nutrients or other substances with a nutritional or physiological effect, marketed in dose form such as a tablet, is a food supplement under Directive 2002/46/EC, Article 2(a); confirm the category for your formula with your legal adviser. Health claims on the pack need an authorisation (Regulation (EC) 1924/2006).
One rule concerns the sorbitol base. Under Regulation (EU) 1169/2011, Annex III, point 2.4, a food with more than 10% added polyols carries a polyol warning. Whether it applies to your tablet depends on the share of polyols in the formula; the label artwork is prepared with you and approved before printing.

What your choice decides
Each choice fixes part of the order. The table shows what it costs you in time, run size or risk, not in money.
| Your choice | What changes | What it costs you |
|---|---|---|
| A ready-made formula | A sample of the existing product, which other brands may also use | Time: no development stage before production |
| A formula developed for your brand | A sample developed to your brief; the formula is made for your brand and the terms are set in our reply | Time: development before production, then from 4 weeks. Risk: a change after approval means a new sample |
| A label designed by the plant | Artwork prepared with you and printed on the tube | Time: one approval round before print |
| Artwork you already have | The plant prints the version you approve | Risk: text that does not match the rules of the country of sale means new artwork |
Frequently asked questions
Can effervescent tablets be private label?
Yes. FIZZPHARMA makes effervescent tablets that are sold under your brand: 4 g on a sorbitol base, 20 to a tube. You choose a ready-made formula or have a formula developed for your brand.
How many effervescent tablets are in a tube?
A FIZZPHARMA tube holds 20 tablets of 4 g each, 80 g of product, with a desiccant cap, and the tube is printed for your brand.
What is the minimum order for effervescent tablets?
FIZZPHARMA keeps the minimum low and counts it in tubes; a repeat order has the same minimum as the first. The figure for your formula is in our reply within 24 hours, Monday to Friday.
How long does production take?
At FIZZPHARMA production takes from 4 weeks, on a ready-made formula or your own; transport and customs come on top. The sample and the label approvals come before production.
What happens with a formula developed for my brand?
A formula developed to your brief is made for your brand; the terms are set in our reply. FIZZPHARMA makes a sample from your brief, you approve the sample and the label, and only then does production start. A ready-made formula is available to other brands as well.
Can I see a sample before I order?
Yes. At FIZZPHARMA, for a ready-made formula you receive a sample of the existing product; for your own formula, a sample is developed to your brief. The terms for the sample are given in our reply to your enquiry.
Who prints the tube and designs the label?
FIZZPHARMA does, at the production site. The label artwork is prepared with you, or you bring your own, and only the version you have approved is printed. Your importer confirms the label rules of the country of sale. Your own packaging can be used on request: send its specification with your enquiry.
What documents come with each batch?
A CoA and a specification, after laboratory control of the batch. The plant is ISO 22000, GMP and HACCP certified, and FIZZPHARMA sends copies of the certificates with their numbers on request. For export it also arranges a Certificate of Free Sale and a Certificate of Manufacture, with an apostille and consular legalisation where the country of sale asks for them.
What shelf life do effervescent tablets have?
24 months as the standard at FIZZPHARMA, set by the least stable ingredient and confirmed in the CoA of each batch. Dispatch, transit and customs use part of it before the product reaches the shelf, so plan the run back from the date of sale.
Can effervescent tablets be halal certified?
Yes. When your market asks for it, FIZZPHARMA arranges a halal certificate for each batch of your product. Either a certifying company visits and issues the certificate, or an auditor attends the production of the batch.
Do you ship effervescent tablets outside the EU?
Yes. FIZZPHARMA delivers worldwide, EXW by default, with FCA or DAP on request. Your importer files the registration in the country of sale, with the specification, the CoA and the plant certificates from FIZZPHARMA.
