Electrolyte Powder Private Label: Sachet, Tube or Cube, Which Format Should Your Brand Launch?

Pick the format by serving weight, first-order size and lead time. At FIZZPHARMA, a sachet (4–12 g, from 300 kg of blend, production from 4 weeks) is the single-serve powder route to a first electrolyte line; the effervescent tablet in a tube (20 tablets of 4 g, low minimum, from 4 weeks) and the drink cube are the effervescent formats, agreed per project.

Why did retailers launch their own electrolyte powders?

Because the category is large and still growing. In the US, powdered water mixes were reported at about US$1.5 billion, and a US warehouse club's own label now sells a 40-stick box of 0.45 oz sticks. In Europe, own labels hold 38.8% of retail value across 17 countries, all categories (PLMA, 2025, reported).

Read the pattern as a brand owner. Once a category passes a billion in sales, chains want a line of their own and buy it from contract manufacturers. A new brand wins on format, flavour and a story the chain's label does not tell, not on matching the chain's price.

How big is the electrolyte powder category and how fast did it grow?

In the US, powdered water mixes reached about US$1.5 billion, with double-digit growth four years running and +20% in 2024 (Circana, via CNN, reported). A US electrolyte brand acquired by a global consumer goods group in 2020 said in 2023 that it was approaching US$1 billion in net sales, roughly a decade after launch.

A comparable public figure for Europe was not found. Demand shows in search instead: Google suggests 14 completions for "electrolyte powder private label" and 13 for "electrolyte powder manufacturer", including "europe" and "sachet manufacturer" (17 October 2026).

How much powder is in one serving of each format (grams per serving)?

A stick carries about 12.8 g per serving, a FIZZPHARMA sachet 4–12 g, an effervescent tablet 4 g and a drink cube about 2 g. The spread matters more than any single number. A 40-stick box weighs about 510 g, a 20-tablet tube 80 g, a 12-cube pack about 24 g.

Fill weight also sets how many sachets your first order makes. 300 kg of finished blend is about 25,000 sachets at 12 g or 75,000 at 4 g.

Stick, sachet, tube or cube: what does each cost to ship and store?

Weight per serving is the first cost to compare. One kilogram of product gives about 78 stick servings, 83–250 sachet servings, 250 tablet servings or 500 cube servings (calculation, packaging excluded). The fewer grams per serving, the more servings fit in the same parcel.

Dry formats also weigh far less than ready bottles. 1,200 servings as cubes weigh about 2.4 kg; the same 1,200 servings as 500 ml bottles hold about 600 kg of water. A 12-cube pack is smaller than a standard bottle cap (Pictet, 2020). Price per pack is given in FIZZPHARMA's reply to your enquiry once formula and pack are fixed.

How does a packaging choice protect the product in humid storage?

An effervescent tablet reacts with moisture, so it goes into a plastic tube with a desiccant cap; a bottle or a pouch does not suit the formula. A sachet protects powder with an aluminium foil layer between the paper and the sealable film. A cube is sealed in its own blister with foil.

Shelf life at FIZZPHARMA is 24 months as the standard, confirmed in the certificate of analysis (CoA) of each batch and set by the least stable ingredient. If your route runs through hot, humid ports, send the destination conditions with your enquiry so pack and shelf life are agreed before the artwork is final.

Which labelling rules apply in the EU: food or food supplement?

A product that is a concentrated source of nutrients in a dosed form is a food supplement under Directive 2002/46/EC. Its name must read "food supplement", with the recommended daily dose and the mandatory warnings. A flavoured mix with no added nutrients is usually ordinary food under Regulation (EU) 1169/2011. Confirm the category with your legal adviser.

Small packs have limits. The minimum x-height of printed text is 1.2 mm, or 0.9 mm when the largest face of the pack is under 80 cm². Under 10 cm², only the name, allergens, net quantity and date marking must appear on the pack itself. "Sugars-free" is allowed only up to 0.5 g sugars per 100 g or 100 ml, and health claims need an authorisation (Regulation 1924/2006). FIZZPHARMA prepares the label artwork with you and you approve it before printing; your importer confirms the rules of the country of sale.

What is the minimum order for a private label electrolyte line?

The minimum follows the format. Sachets and powders start from 300 kg of finished blend. Tubes have a low minimum counted in tubes. Cubes are counted per product, in cubes and boxes: three flavours are three products. A repeat order carries the same minimum as the first. FIZZPHARMA gives the exact figure for your project in its reply to your enquiry, within 24 hours Monday to Friday.

How do I choose a contract manufacturer for an electrolyte line?

Ask for five things before you commit:

  1. The site certificates. FIZZPHARMA is ISO 22000, GMP and HACCP certified, and copies with their numbers go to clients on request.
  2. A CoA and a specification with every batch.
  3. A visit or audit.
  4. The export papers your importer needs.
  5. A sample you approve before anything is produced.

The order is fixed: enquiry, sample, sample approval, label approval, production, packing and printing, delivery.

What this means for your brand

  1. If you sell online, count grams per serving. A sachet of 4 g or a tablet of 4 g ships lighter than a 12.8 g stick.
  2. If you aim at retail chains, choose the sachet or the tube; the chain's own label already sits at stick size.
  3. If you want a visible brand moment on the shelf, the cube in its own blister gives the foil as a print surface.
  4. Start with the format whose minimum fits your first-year plan, not the one that looks best in a render.

FIZZPHARMA produces effervescent tablets in tubes, drink cubes in blisters and powder sachets under your brand in the European Union. It develops a sample from your brief, you approve the sample and the artwork, and production starts from 4 weeks. Send the format you have in mind through the contact page.

FAQ

Sachet or stick: what is the difference for a private label brand?

Both are single-serve powder packs. A FIZZPHARMA sachet holds 4–12 g, is 50–60 mm wide and 60–110 mm tall, and carries your print straight on a paper, aluminium foil and sealable film laminate. Buyers often ask for sticks by name; the sachet gives the same one-serving logic with a printed surface and a 300 kg entry point.

How long does production take?

FIZZPHARMA produces effervescent tablets in tubes and powder sachets from 4 weeks, on a ready formula and on your own. For powders in jars the production time is given in our reply. Transport and customs come on top of production time, and nothing is produced before you approve the sample and the label.

What shelf life can I print on the pack?

The standard shelf life at FIZZPHARMA is 24 months, confirmed in the CoA of each batch and set by the least stable ingredient. The date is printed on the pack at printing or packing. The shelf life for a drink cube is agreed in the project:.

Which documents come with an order for export?

Every batch comes with a CoA and a specification. FIZZPHARMA also prepares a Certificate of Free Sale, a Certificate of Manufacture, an apostille and consular legalisation where the country of sale requires it. Delivery is worldwide: EXW by default, FCA or DAP on request.

Who prints the tube, the sachet and the cube foil?

The factory prints them. Tubes, sachets, cartons and pouches are printed at the production site, and the foil of a cube blister takes your brand. The label artwork is prepared with you and approved before printing, and your own pack can be used on request.
