Effervescent and drink formats: which one for your private label supplement brand

For a private label supplement brand, FIZZPHARMA recommends the tube of 20 tablets when the serving is taken one tablet at a time and the tube closes again after each one. It recommends the cube when the serving is sold and opened alone, and the sachet for an exact powder dose. Tablets and sachets take from 4 weeks, and shelf life is 24 months as standard.

FIZZPHARMA makes these in the European Union:

  • Tablets in tubes. 20 tablets of 4 g to a tube, low MOQ counted in tubes.
  • Drink cubes in single blisters. MOQ set for each product.
  • Sachets. 4–12 g, from 300 kg.
  • Electrolyte tablets and powders.

FIZZPHARMA also makes table-top sweeteners under your brand: mini-tablets in a click dispenser, sweetener cubes, drops and powder.

A cell marked "Quoted" depends on your formula. The FIZZPHARMA reply to your enquiry states the figure within 24 hours, Monday to Friday.

Which effervescent format suits a new private label supplement brand?

Start from how your customer takes the serving. Then read how the minimum order is counted: in tubes for tablets, in cubes and boxes for each cube product, and in kilograms of finished blend for sachets and powders. FIZZPHARMA keeps the minimum low on every format. A startup or a new brand can launch one product, test the market and place a repeat order with the same minimum as the first.

Each row of the table pairs a situation with the format that fits it. The third column shows what to plan for in time, run size or risk, not money. How does each format dissolve?

A tablet and a cube dissolve the same way. A cube is pressed at the plant like an effervescent tablet. The acid and the bicarbonate in it stay inactive while dry and react as soon as water reaches them. A sachet holds a powder, which is emptied into water or a drink and mixed.

The volume of water per serving is set with the formula and stated in the quote. The directions for use belong to the label artwork, which you approve before anything is printed.

Tube, cube or sachet: what changes for shipping and the shelf?

The pack decides. A tube with a desiccant cap carries 20 tablets of 4 g. A blister seals every cube alone under a foil lid. A sachet holds one dose of 4–12 g in a laminate with an aluminium foil layer.

Delivery is worldwide, and the term is EXW unless you agree FCA or DAP. Under DAP the goods reach your address and the duties are yours. Transport and customs are added to the production time, so name the destination country in the first message.

For a hot or humid route, put the destination in the enquiry: the storage and transit conditions for your formula come with the quote.

What sets the minimum order (MOQ) for each format?

The format sets it. FIZZPHARMA counts a tablet minimum in tubes, a cube minimum in cubes and boxes for each product, and a sachet or powder minimum in kilograms of finished blend.

  • Tablets in tubes. Low, counted in tubes. One tube holds 20 tablets of 4 g, which is 80 g of tablets.
  • Drink cubes. Set for each product. Every flavour is a product of its own, so three flavours mean three minimums.
  • Sachets and powders. From 300 kg of finished blend. The dose sets the count. 300,000 g divided by 12 g gives 25,000 sachets. Divided by 4 g it gives 75,000, before filling losses.
  • Electrolytes. The form sets the unit: a powder starts from 300 kg, and the figure for a tablet is in your quote.
  • Sweeteners. The unit follows the format you choose, and the figure is in your quote.

A repeat order starts from the same quantity as the first. Every format is compared on minimum order and lead time.

How long does production take for each format?

Tablets in tubes and powder sachets take from 4 weeks at FIZZPHARMA, with a catalogue formula or your own formula. Transport and customs come on top. For cubes, electrolytes and sweeteners the production time is set in the quote for your formula.

Production begins after you approve the sample and then the label artwork. A change to the formula after approval means a new sample.

How long does each format keep?

Tablets in tubes, sachets and electrolyte products carry a standard shelf life of 24 months at FIZZPHARMA. The least stable ingredient in the formula sets the figure, and the CoA of each batch confirms it. For cubes and sweeteners the shelf life is stated in the quote.

Dispatch, transit and customs eat into the shelf life before the goods reach a shelf, so count back from the date of sale.

Where does my brand go on each format?

On every format the plant prints your brand. The surface differs:

  • Tube. The brand is printed on the tube.
  • Cube. The brand goes on the foil lid of each blister and on the outer box.
  • Sachet. The brand is printed straight onto the paper layer of the laminate, so the sachet is its own label.
  • Powder in a zip-lock bag. The artwork is prepared with you and approved before printing.

FIZZPHARMA designs the artwork or checks the one you bring, and nothing but the approved version goes to print. Packaging you supply is accepted on request; send its specification with the enquiry.

Which EU label rules change with the format?

The rules attach to the ingredients and the size of the pack more than to the shape of the product. Your importer confirms the label rules for the country of sale; the artwork follows them.

CaseWhat the rule requiresWhere
Tablet on a sorbitol baseA food with more than 10% added polyols carries "excessive consumption may produce laxative effects". Whether it reaches your tablet depends on the polyol share in the formulaRegulation (EU) 1169/2011, Annex III, point 2.4
Table-top sweetener, any formatThe sales name includes "[name of sweetener(s)]-based table-top sweetener". A sweetener with polyols carries "excessive consumption may induce laxative effects". One with aspartame carries "contains a source of phenylalanine"Regulation (EC) 1333/2008, Article 23
Small faces: tube, blister foil, sachetThe x-height of the type is at least 1.2 mm, and at least 0.9 mm where the largest face of the pack is under 80 cm²Regulation (EU) 1169/2011, Article 13(2) and 13(3)
Health wording on any packA health claim is allowed only when it is authorisedRegulation (EC) 1924/2006
Drink cubeA cube that only flavours water usually follows the rules for ordinary food. A cube with vitamins or minerals in a dose is usually a food supplement. The category follows the compositionDirective 2002/46/EC, Article 2(a)

The cube and tablet categories are worked through in effervescent drinks and cubes in the EU: food or food supplement.

Frequently asked questions

Which effervescent format should a new private label supplement brand choose?

Choose by how your customer takes the serving. FIZZPHARMA offers tablets in tubes of 20 for a serving taken one tablet at a time, the tube closed again after each one. Drink cubes in single blisters suit a serving opened alone, and sachets of 4–12 g suit an exact powder dose. Each counts its minimum in its own way: in tubes, in cubes and boxes, or in kilograms.

What is the minimum order (MOQ) for each effervescent format?

At FIZZPHARMA the tablet minimum is low and counted in tubes. The cube minimum is set for each product, in cubes and boxes. Sachets and powders start from 300 kg of finished blend. A repeat order carries the same minimum as the first.

Is the minimum order low enough for a startup brand?

Yes. FIZZPHARMA keeps the minimum low on every format. A startup or a new brand can launch one product, test the market and place a repeat order with the same minimum as the first. The figure for your formula arrives in the reply within 24 hours, Monday to Friday.

Tube, cube or sachet: what changes for shipping?

The pack and the delivery term. FIZZPHARMA ships worldwide on EXW terms unless FCA or DAP is agreed. Transport and customs are added to the production time. A tube is closed by a cap with a desiccant, each cube sits in its own blister, and a sachet has an aluminium foil layer. Weights and box sizes are agreed in your quote.

How long do effervescent tablets, cubes and sachets keep?

The FIZZPHARMA standard for tablets in tubes, sachets and electrolyte products is 24 months, set by the least stable ingredient and confirmed in the CoA of each batch. For cubes and sweeteners the shelf life is agreed in your quote.

How long does production take for each format?

FIZZPHARMA produces effervescent tablets and sachets from 4 weeks, with a catalogue formula or your own formula. Transport and customs come on top. For cubes, electrolytes and sweeteners the production time is agreed in your quote. Production starts after you approve the sample and the label.

How many tablets fit in a tube, and how much does a sachet hold?

A FIZZPHARMA tube holds 20 tablets of 4 g, which is 80 g of product. A sachet holds 4–12 g of powder, and the bulk density of the blend sets the exact figure.

Why do effervescent tablets go in a tube and powder in a sachet?

FIZZPHARMA packs effervescent tablets in a closed plastic tube whose cap holds a desiccant, because the formula reacts with moisture. A powder blend is filled by dose into a sachet, and the aluminium foil layer in its laminate is the barrier.

Where does my brand go on each format?

FIZZPHARMA prints your brand on the tube, on the foil lid of each cube blister and on the box. On a sachet it prints directly on the paper layer, with no separate label. The artwork is approved by you before anything is printed.

Can FIZZPHARMA make table-top sweetener mini-tablets?

FIZZPHARMA makes table-top sweeteners under your brand as mini-tablets in a dispenser, a pressed cube, drops, powder or sachets. Its tablet press, the IMA PREXIMA 300, presses mini-tablets among its tablet types. The format, the dose and the pack are agreed in your quote.

Which documents come with every format?

Each FIZZPHARMA batch ships with a CoA and a specification, issued after laboratory testing. The site is ISO 22000, GMP and HACCP certified, and copies of the certificates with their numbers go out on request. For export FIZZPHARMA arranges a Certificate of Free Sale and a Certificate of Manufacture.

Can any format be halal certified?

Yes, if your market asks for it. FIZZPHARMA arranges a halal certificate for each batch of your product, on tablets, cubes, sachets and electrolyte products alike.
