What is in one tablet?

A tablet of 4 g pairs a mineral with a vitamin. The table lists their amounts and their share of the reference values. The specification that accompanies the offer names the excipients and the flavour.

Per tablet (4 g)Amount% NRV*
Magnesium (from magnesium carbonate)200 mg53 %
Vitamin B62 mg143 %

*NRV: nutrient reference value, Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011, Annex XIII.

How do two nutrients with different percentages appear on one label?

Each nutrient gets its own line with its own percentage. The percentages differ because each is worked out against its own reference value in Annex XIII: magnesium reaches 53 % and vitamin B6 reaches 143 %.

The catalogue entry gives magnesium from magnesium carbonate, which is among the magnesium substances listed in Annex II of Directive 2002/46/EC. The ingredient wording for your label is agreed with you when the artwork is prepared. Whether the amounts of both nutrients fit your destination is a question of national maximums, which your importer checks before the artwork is final.

What does the label of this formula need to carry?

Because the tablet pairs a mineral with a vitamin, the label shows two separate lines, each with its own percentage.

  • Fixed lines. Directive 2002/46/EC, Article 6 asks for the name "food supplement", the categories of nutrients that characterise the product, the recommended daily dose, a warning not to exceed it, a statement that supplements do not replace a varied diet, and a line that they are kept out of the reach of young children.
  • Per daily dose and in % NRV. Magnesium and vitamin B6 are both declared per daily dose and as a percentage of the Annex XIII reference values (Directive 2002/46/EC, Article 8; Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011). One tablet a day reads 200 mg and 53 % for magnesium, and 2 mg and 143 % for vitamin B6.
  • Maximum amounts. No harmonised maximums exist in the EU for vitamins and minerals in supplements; several member states set national ones (Directive 2002/46/EC, Articles 5 and 11(2)), and your importer checks both nutrients against the market.
  • Polyol line. The sorbitol base means the statement that excessive consumption may produce laxative effects is on the table whenever added polyols exceed 10 % of the product (Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011, Annex III, point 2.4). The specification of your formula settles whether it applies.

Can the formula, flavour or pack change?

Other brands can buy the ready-made formula, and its sample is the finished product that exists today. Other amounts, or another magnesium source, mean a formula developed to your brief. FIZZPHARMA builds a sample, and you approve it and then the label. The formula made for your brand stays with your brand.

The sample shows the flavour, and the full specification comes with the offer. The standard pack is the tube with a desiccant cap. Packaging of your own is accepted on request, and its specification goes with the enquiry.

Which papers go with a batch, and which markets do they serve?

Every batch travels with a CoA and a specification, issued once the laboratory has checked it. Your importer files these for registration, alongside copies of the site certificates that are sent on request.

Where a market requires them, FIZZPHARMA arranges export papers and a halal certificate for each batch of your product. Certificates and CoA has the whole list. Minimum order and lead time has the figures by format. Effervescent tablets in tubes has the terms shared by all tablets.
