What is in one tablet?
Five ingredients share one tablet of 4 g. The table lists them with their share of the reference values and adds the salt equivalent, calculated from sodium. The specification that comes with the offer names the compounds, the excipients and the flavour.
| Per tablet (4 g) | Amount | % NRV* |
|---|---|---|
| Sodium | 270 mg | no NRV set |
| Potassium | 100 mg | 5 % |
| Magnesium | 25 mg | 7 % |
| Calcium | 15 mg | 2 % |
| Vitamin C | 40 mg | 50 % |
| Salt equivalent (calculated) | 0.675 g | — |
*NRV: nutrient reference value, Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011, Annex XIII. Sodium is not among the vitamins and minerals with an NRV in Part A of Annex XIII. The salt equivalent is calculated: sodium × 2.5, Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011, Annex I, point 11.
How is sodium shown on the label when it has no reference value?
Sodium is given in milligrams with no percentage, since Part A of Annex XIII lists no reference value for it. The table carries the amount alone. A salt equivalent can be shown beside it: Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 defines salt as sodium multiplied by 2.5 (Annex I, point 11), which for 270 mg is 0.675 g of salt per tablet.
Each of the other four nutrients is declared with its own amount and % NRV: potassium, magnesium, calcium and vitamin C.
What does the label of this formula need to carry?
With five lines on the label, the sodium line is the one that differs from the rest. It has no percentage, and the salt equivalent can stand beside it.
- Fixed lines. Article 6 of Directive 2002/46/EC puts the name "food supplement" on the pack, with the categories of nutrients that characterise the product, the recommended daily dose, a warning not to exceed it, a statement that supplements do not replace a varied diet and a line that they are kept out of the reach of young children.
- Sodium and salt. Sodium has no NRV, so its line gives the amount, 270 mg per tablet. The salt equivalent, 0.675 g per tablet (sodium × 2.5, Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011, Annex I, point 11), can be shown beside it. A recommended dose of several tablets multiplies both figures.
- Four lines with a percentage. Potassium, magnesium, calcium and vitamin C are each declared per daily dose and as a % of the Annex XIII reference values (Directive 2002/46/EC, Article 8). One tablet reads 5 % for potassium, 7 % for magnesium, 2 % for calcium and 50 % for vitamin C.
- Maximums. The EU has not harmonised upper limits for vitamins and minerals in supplements, and several member states set national ones; your importer checks the amounts for the market (Directive 2002/46/EC, Articles 5 and 11(2)).
- Sorbitol. The base is sorbitol, so the polyol line is part of the check: with added polyols above 10 % of the product, the label states that excessive consumption may produce laxative effects (Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011, Annex III, point 2.4). The specification of your formula settles whether the line applies.
Can the formula, flavour or pack change?
Other brands can buy the ready-made formula, and the sample is the finished product that exists today. If you want other amounts of sodium or of any mineral, or a different set of ingredients, the formula is developed to your brief. FIZZPHARMA makes a sample, and you approve it, then the label. A formula developed for your brand is made for your brand.
The sample shows the flavour, and the whole specification comes with the offer. The standard pack is the tube with a desiccant cap, and packaging of your own is accepted on request, with its specification sent along with the enquiry.
Which documents come with a batch, and what does my importer file?
Once the laboratory has checked a batch, a CoA and a specification are issued for it. Your importer registers the product at the destination with these and with the site certificates, copies of which FIZZPHARMA sends on request.
Export papers are arranged for your market, and halal is arranged per batch of your product if the market requires it. The list is on certificates and CoA. Lead times and quantities by format are on minimum order and lead time. The terms for all tablets in tubes are on effervescent tablets in tubes.
Frequently asked questions
What is in one electrolyte effervescent tablet?
FIZZPHARMA's electrolyte tablet carries sodium 270 mg, potassium 100 mg, magnesium 25 mg, calcium 15 mg and vitamin C 40 mg per 4 g tablet. The reference-value shares are 5 % for potassium, 7 % for magnesium, 2 % for calcium and 50 % for vitamin C.
Why does sodium have no percentage of the reference value?
The sodium line of the FIZZPHARMA tablet gives the amount, 270 mg, and no percentage. Part A of Annex XIII of Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011, the list of vitamins and minerals with reference values, does not include sodium. The salt equivalent can be shown beside it.
How is the salt equivalent worked out?
Sodium is multiplied by 2.5 (Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011, Annex I, point 11). For the 270 mg of sodium in a FIZZPHARMA tablet the result is 0.675 g of salt, the calculated figure in the table.
Is this the same as your electrolyte powders?
No, this page is one tablet formula. FIZZPHARMA's electrolyte powders, sachets and range-wide terms are described on the page for electrolyte effervescent tablets and powders.
Can I change the amounts of sodium and potassium?
Yes, as a formula developed to your brief. FIZZPHARMA builds a sample. You approve it and then the label, and production follows from 4 weeks.
What is the minimum order?
Low, counted in tubes of 20 tablets. A reorder starts from the same quantity. FIZZPHARMA gives the figure for this formula in a reply sent in 24 hours on working days.
How long does the tablet keep?
24 months is the FIZZPHARMA standard, set by the least stable ingredient and confirmed by the CoA of each batch.
Can the tube carry my brand and my design?
Yes. FIZZPHARMA prints your brand on the tube at the production site, with artwork prepared together or supplied by you and signed off before printing.
