What is in one tablet?
A 4 g tablet holds a mineral and a vitamin. The table gives both amounts with their share of the reference values. The calcium compound, excipients and flavour appear in the specification that comes with the offer.
| Per tablet (4 g) | Amount | % NRV* |
|---|---|---|
| Calcium | 500 mg | 63 % |
| Vitamin D3 | 5 µg (200 IU) | 100 % |
*NRV: nutrient reference value, Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011, Annex XIII.
How are calcium and vitamin D3 stated side by side on a label?
Calcium is given in milligrams and vitamin D3 in micrograms (the units in Annex I of Directive 2002/46/EC), each with its percentage of the reference value. In this formula calcium reaches 63 % and vitamin D3 reaches exactly 100 %, because 5 µg equals the reference value for the vitamin. The same amount in the older unit is 200 IU.
Both lines stay as they are in the table when they go on the artwork. The daily dose you recommend sets the final figures. The calcium compound named in the ingredient list is the one in the specification.
What does the label of this formula need to carry?
The fixed lines for a food supplement apply across the EU, and the calcium and vitamin D3 lines add units and percentages of their own.
- Fixed lines. Directive 2002/46/EC, Article 6 requires the name "food supplement", the categories of nutrients that characterise the product, the recommended daily dose, a warning not to exceed it, a statement that supplements are not a substitute for a varied diet and a line that they are kept out of the reach of young children.
- Calcium in mg, vitamin D3 in µg. Both are declared per daily dose and as a % of the Annex XIII reference values (Directive 2002/46/EC, Article 8). A tablet a day reads 500 mg and 63 % for calcium, and 5 µg and 100 % for vitamin D3, with 200 IU as the equivalent.
- Maximums. There is no EU-wide maximum yet for vitamins and minerals in supplements, and several member states have national ones (Directive 2002/46/EC, Articles 5 and 11(2)); your importer checks calcium and vitamin D3 for the market.
- Sorbitol. The base of the tablet is sorbitol. If added polyols exceed 10 % of the product, the label states that excessive consumption may produce laxative effects (Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011, Annex III, point 2.4); the specification of your formula settles the line.
Can the formula, flavour or pack change?
Other brands can buy the ready-made formula, and its sample is the product that already exists. A formula with a different calcium amount or another vitamin D3 dose is developed to your brief. You approve a sample and then the label. The formula developed for your brand is made for your brand.
The sample shows the flavour, and the full specification is sent with the offer. The tube with a desiccant cap is the standard pack, and packaging of your own is accepted on request once its specification comes with the enquiry.
What papers does the batch carry, and what does my importer file?
FIZZPHARMA issues a CoA and a specification with every batch, once the laboratory has checked it. Your importer registers the product in the destination country with these and with copies of the site certificates, which are sent on request.
Export papers can be arranged for your market. A halal certificate is arranged per batch of your product when the market asks. Certificates and CoA gives the details. Minimum order and lead time gives the quantities and timing. Effervescent tablets in tubes gives the terms common to all tablets.
Frequently asked questions
How much calcium and vitamin D3 are in one tablet?
One FIZZPHARMA tablet of 4 g holds 500 mg of calcium (63 % of the nutrient reference value) and 5 µg of vitamin D3. That is 200 IU and 100 % of the reference value.
Why does vitamin D3 show exactly 100 % here?
The 5 µg of vitamin D3 in a tablet matches the reference value in Annex XIII of Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011, so the label shows 100 %.
Can the calcium amount or the vitamin D3 dose be changed?
Yes, as a formula developed to your brief. FIZZPHARMA builds a sample, you approve the sample and then the label, and production runs from 4 weeks. Ready-made D3 tablets at other doses are on their own pages.
Which calcium compound is used?
The catalogue entry names the calcium by its amount. The specification with the calcium compound and the other ingredients comes with the offer from FIZZPHARMA.
How many tubes make a minimum order?
A low number, counted in tubes of 20 tablets. FIZZPHARMA names the figure for this formula in a reply sent in 24 hours on working days.
Who checks the national limits on calcium and vitamin D3?
Your importer does. Member states set their own maximums for vitamins and minerals in supplements. The importer checks the amounts in the table before the artwork is signed off.
How long does production take and what is the shelf life?
FIZZPHARMA's production takes from 4 weeks. The shelf life is 24 months as the standard, set by the least stable ingredient and confirmed in the CoA of each batch.
Is a sample of this tablet available?
Yes. FIZZPHARMA offers the existing product as the sample before the order. Production is released after you approve the sample and the label.
